Europe’s second largest passenger port, Port of Calais, has been undergoing a vast extension since 2015. Recently, Colas used the TinySurveyor to set out pre-markings at the Port of Calais. The TinySurveyor was used to pre-mark asphalt coating strips as well as horizontal signage structures.
Since 2015, Colas has been working as part of a consortium led by Bouygues Travaux Publics on the city of Calais’ new port development project.
The extension, due to be delivered in 2021, will enable the port to absorb the expected 40% increase in cross-Channel traffic. On the agenda for Colas’ teams: the construction of platforms (700,000 m²), dockside development, upgrading of the existing ring road outside the port providing a link to the A16 highway, installation of networks (high voltage, drinking and waste water pipes, rainwater pipes, gas pipelines), lighting and dynamic signaling, working with partner Bouygues Energies & Services for the energy aspects.
